Netherlands and into Germany

Back in the van again we skirted around IJsselmeer to Markermeer. We worked out our first dutch word - meer means lake. This area is called Laag Holland, Low Holland, and is where you will find the picturesque image we all have of the Netherlands. Typically we see low lying meadows, wetlands, old windmills and rustic villages protected by dykes and connected by historical watercourses.
